Quiet Wisdom

I was reading last night in Ecclesiastes 9 and came across this verse. v17-18.

“17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.”

Now listen to that same passage in the Message translation.

“17 The quiet words of the wise are more effective Than the ranting of a king of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than warheads, But one hothead can ruin the good earth.”

Now that seems to have some truth in it when used to look at our current global situation with terrorism and the middle east.
